Production Management
 |
This was a project involving hundreds of research and refinement hours to develop a highly useful product.
The client wanted to be able get, at a moments notice, the production schedule and progress of any item
their facility was currently producing. They also wanted to check on the efficiency or their departments,
their employees, and their company output overall. |
I started by following key people in their respective daily roles in the company. Gaining knowledge of their work practices,
snafus, and other bottlenecks in production. From this perspective, I was able to create a product that met their needs.

In the process, I learned what was needed and where in the interface for each type of user. We adjusted certain production practices to more
accurately track pieces to the larger puzzle.
Things like area weather reporting and traffic info on delivery and installation locales helps A/R keep their clients
informed of any delays and known employee absentee times help preclude 'rush-jobs' from upsetting delivery schedules. |
Accounting Software Extensions
A client approached me needing to extend their current accounting software's abilities. Their clients expressed a desire
to make payments 'online' and seeing this would streamline their payment process, they decided to move forward.
In order to satisfy the project requirements, I first, needed to learn the third-party accounting software's DB structure.
From there, I built a complete web hosting network at one of their locations. Next, the hosting network needed a VPN back to their home
office's accounting DB server. Utilizing mostly Cisco equipment, like Pix firewalls and 2600 series routers, the networks were built and tested.
Overall it wound up being similar to setting up a new ECommerce facility.
The software needed to allow searching by dates, locations, and amounts, and take payments only for certain departments per employee.
I also provided graphical reporting services on amount per department/per location basis and trend tracking to recognize fluctuations early.
